Garden Den

A timber constructed garden room built without the need for planning permission under permitted development rights.

The room was designed as a guest bedroom, from the inside out. The timber frame requires minimal use of concrete foundations and is insulated to current standards. The exterior cladding is an oiled Tongue & groove Marabou. The roof is a simple warm roof construction with rubber membrane and sedum ballast. All materials used are from sustainable sources with bitvent sheathing and wool insulation.

The simple decked platform and bedding creates an inviting new 'outside room' between the existing house and the den. The roof can be accessed via a steel ladder for maintenance or sun bathing.

This form of construction can easily extend to the development of a garden office or studio.
