New York Penthouse

A recycled plastic kitchen and bathroom commission.

We arrived quite late to this Brooklyn penthouse, part of a new 6-story apartment block. The building was near the final fixtures and fitting stage. Our client had purchased the penthouse but did not want the developers final spec. It would have been sinfully wasteful for this to commence only to be ripped out by the new tenant. We therefore had to negotiate with the developer to fit out the apartment ourselves.

The plastic units were custom built in Europe and shipped to New York, this may seem excessive, but we found in America there is predominately two choices, the home depot type ranges or very high-end systems many of which are imported from Europe. We came in somewhere in the middle. From design to construction, we managed to get all our components on site in just over three months and then oversaw the final fit out over a 3-week period.

The bathroom finishes were imported by laptop courtesy of the internet and installed by the buildings contractor. Final fixtures and fittings were brought in on our last visit via the baggage allowances.
